2010 Livingston County United Way Day of Caring
After our efforts at the Day of Caring on August 18, we were proud to learn that, through our sponsorship, we were able to help out in a big way!
We received a very thoughtful letter from the Livingston County United Way, which explained everything we were able to accomplish through our participation:
- Purchased materials, installed new cupboards and counter at a local senior center where safety had been an issue (items were previously stored on the floor)
- Purchased paint and supplies, giving a senior citizen’s home a brand-new look and feel, and purchased and installed a secure new front door for her home. Mrs. Erb is truly grateful!
- Purchased plumbing supplies so an area senior could have her washer moved indoors vs. doing laundry outdoors in the winter time
- Allowed for carpet cleaning to be done in a senior’s home
- Assisted with purchasing materials for the building of handicapped ramps at two locations for medically-challenged area residents
- Purchased paint and cleaning supplies for another area resident with medical challenges
- Purchased roof-sealing materials so an area senior could have her mobile home roof sealed before colder weather and snow sets in
- Rented a dumpster so large piles of debris could be cleared from a senior citizens’ yard, giving her safer access to the outdoors
Thanks Livingston County United Way; we were very proud to join the over 120 local businesses who were able to be part of this wonderful day! Through the help of these local businesses, over 600 meals were delivered to seniors, 1,600 backpacks were stuffed to assist children to be prepared for school, an additional 164 pounds of food and personal care items were collected, and much, much more!
Mark your calendars for next year’s Day of Caring on August 17, 2011!
