New South Lansing Branch Update
Lake Trust Credit Union LEED-Certified South Lansing Branch

Examples of Green Features
We’re very excited about the opening of our new South Lansing Branch this coming Monday, December 6 and we want to share a few things about our LEED-Certification with you. Below, we have a list of the features that make our building environmentally sensitive and LEED-Certified.
We’re using recycled materials
Building materials
- Steel made from junked cars
- Carpet made from plastic water bottles
- Tiles mined and made from regional natural stone products (vs. importing from Italy)
Construction Waste Management
- 75% of waste is put in special dumpster, taken back to a recycling facility and sorted vs. dumping in a landfill. (25% disposed of traditional way)
We’re preserving soil
- Grass seed was planted before start of construction to preserve topsoil
- During construction there will be no grass
- 2’ silt fence surrounds entire property
- Silt fence acts as rainwater filter for dirt, preventing topsoil from being carried away
- Crew periodically shovels collected dirt back
We’re using less water
- Branch landscaping will use drought resistant native plants
- Self supporting - no irrigation
We’re energy efficient
Green Power
- Lake Trust Credit Union will purchase at least 35% of its power generated by green methods - solar, wind. (BWL has solar panels downtown Lansing)
- Lots of natural light / more windows = less need for lights
Our ribbon-cutting ceremony is on Monday, December 6 at 8:45 a.m. and the branch will be open for business immediately following at 9 a.m.; below is an invitation to the event with a map:
